Juneteenth
As we work together as an organization and in our communities to combat the racial injustices that remain deeply rooted into the fabric of our society, the Preiss Company observed Juneteenth on Friday, June 19th by closing offices early in order to allow each employee to spend time learning and challenging perspectives in order to better understand.
Juneteenth is a day dedicated to reflecting on our past, but more importantly, considering how each one of us can continue to show up and band together to work toward a better future. It is a day for celebration, education, and connection.
70 Miles in Solidarity
On June 19th, Kirk Preiss ran/walked 70 miles in a 24-hour span for his 70th birthday. Kirk completed this endeavor in memory of his late father who passed away earlier this year. Also, his goal was to raise awareness for racism and social injustice in our country. $11,050 was raised to donate to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund! A highlight recap video will be released on the blog at a later time.
Team Spotlight
University Estates at Austin, University Village at Austin, Quad East, and Quad West collectively raised $400 for Buzzmill, a local coffee shop that is active in their local community. They also matched donations for their July outreach campaign to donate to Color of Change.
As a way to raise funds, each property manager (Toryn Johnson, Javier Ginestra, Allisiana Davis, and Logan Stansell) willingly sat and got smashed with pies purchased by generous donors.
